January 7, 2011
Hi all!
I hope your New Year has
started out well. I'm already a day late! Not bad for
just a week! LOL
We are getting ready for
our FIRST SECOND SATURDAY of 2011.
Tomorrow at 9 a.m., I'll
formally introduce the new program. All are welcome. Even
if you don't think you'll do the entire year, you might enjoy seeing
how the 4-PATCH STACK technique works. That's what I'll be
demonstrating. And its FREE to attend.

I've been having lots of fun
playing with 4 PATCH stacks. I'm making samples for 2011 SECOND SATURDAY
quilts, and
hope you'll have as much fun as I'm having when you sign up for our monthly
block kits.
This year we're offering 3 different colorways. Each colorway has several options offered to create
unique BLOCK CENTERS.
To create the 4-patch units, you
need 4 repeats of the fabric. We've split a 3 yard length of a FABULOUS PRINT,
down the center, so it measures approx. 22" x 108". This will
give you at least 4 repeats of the pattern, which when carefully stacked, allows you
to cut 4 identical squares, producing a fun, simple kaleidoscope effect when sewn
together.
Susan
& Ruth are working on samples from 2 of the FABULOUS PRINTS! Here they
are getting the 4 layers stacked in perfect alignment.
We'll use these 4-patch units for the centers of
the sampler blocks and the setting squares.
You get to choose the finished
project, selecting from queen-size quilt to table runners.
Lots of options, all skillfully
laid out in the book KALEIDOSCOPE SYMPHONY, which will be our text for the
year. See below for more details on attending or receiving monthly in the
mail.
SECOND SATURDAY starts
Jan 8th, 9:00 a.m. - 12 sampler blocks. $5 each month, or FREE
in the shop if you show us the previous month's block made from our
kit by 9 a.m. on the next 2nd Sat.

I
just don't think that HALLOWEEN, should be the only challenger
to the popularity of Christmas decorating.
I think that VALENTINE'S
DAY can be just as sweet and maybe just as tricky!
(How many relationships have you been in? LOL)
We have a great
selection of fabrics & patterns to get you started on projects.
We're trying to keep track of them in our newest LOVE &
VALENTINES department. So check it out for yourself.

Wing & A Prayer
Designs newest pattern is RHAPSODY and will be offered with two different settings.
We'll be cutting kits in their new TIMELESS TREASURES fabric line of
the same name, WILDFLOWER RHAPSODY.
We'll also be cutting
monthly kits from TIMELESS TONGA BATIKS & HAND-DYED fabrics.
Classes will also be available.
These
fabrics are in the store now and soon to be added to the web. The background of the border fabric is a
CHOCOLATE BROWN. The flowers are rose, violet & gold. Come
see them for yourself.
This
year there we're starting a new SAMPLER QUILT, again using
REPRODUCTION CIVIL WAR ERA fabrics made by Marcus Fabrics.
The Civil War Chronicles BOM quilt features twelve blocks that tell the stories of twelve women who encountered their own struggles on the
home front while their husbands were away.
Each pattern includes historical background and biographies about the generals' wives.
Patterns includes many new features over last year's pattern series,
including finished sizes for individual units within the blocks, color
diagrams, and more quick-trick piecing techniques.
If you'd like some
encouragement and help, consider joining our class.
Civil War Chronicles - The class will meet on the
2nd Thursday at 1:30 and the 2nd Saturday at 10:30. Classes
