WASH DAY BLUES is another good collection of reproduction fabrics
based on a quilt made in the late 1800s.
DAY BLUES collection focuses on that particular color of faded indigo – indigo that wasn’t left in the dye bath as long and produced the lovely shades of medium to light blue that we love. One of the strongest dyes, Indigo was often used in utility (washday) clothing and, of course, quilts, because it would maintain its color through many washdays.
I just love using a
fabric for this, particularly a larger novelty print, that I wouldn't
have another use for! So, I tend to make lots of TRAVEL PILLOW
CASES, and since they make great gifts, I'm ahead in that department

Because I anticipate
these being washed repeatedly, I did pre-shrink the fabrics before
starting. I do not always pre-shrink the fabric being used for
the bias binding because it will not really shrink the same, being on

fabrics that will make DARLING BIBS or BAPRONS! I used a FAT
QUARTER when I just wanted to make one. You can make 3 with a
half yard or have enough to make bias for a different bib.
