Hi all!

I'm enjoying a quick visit to Chicago!

I spent some time at The Art Institute yesterday, which is always fun and inspirational!

And I toured the ROOKERY Building, with an historic Frank Lloyd Wright design.  I highly recommend the tour!  It is the oldest existing "high rise" in Chicago at 12 stories built in 1888 with a major remodel done in 1905 by Frank Lloyd Wright.

P&B Textiles - Downtown - Brown and Green Building in Squares PANEL

If you like ARCHITECTURE, checkout this great fabric line from P&B Textiles, DOWNTOWN, some of which you'll find marked down and at the BARGAIN store, but all that we have can be seen here:

Andover - Jazz - Gold, Brown & Tan Spikes & Broken Rectangles in Stripe on Black

And try JAZZ from Andover:

If you use Andover fabrics in a project, you should know about their new YOUR ANDOVER CONTEST.  Check it out and enter.  Winners are being selected weekly!  Great prizes include lots of FABRIC!:)

Last week Mary finished two SMALL QUILTS featuring BIRDS - each finishing approximately 16 inches square.  Wire STANDS and wooden SHELVES are available for displaying these small quilts.

From the FIELD'S END series, TOM THE TURKEY and PHEASANTLY SURPRISED, are two patterns that really suit Kansas! :)

The technique is raw-edge FUSIBLE APPLIQUÉ.

Our kits contains the many fabrics, including binding and backing, as Mary used on her bird quilts.

This week, Mary made WINTER TREES.  This small quilt is finished as a PILLOW, but could just as easily be made as a decorative table mat or wall hanging.

Our kit includes the pattern, BIRD & BIRDHOUSE BUTTONS and all fabrics to finish the front & back of the pillow, approximately 12 x 16 inches.

This project features cool OMBRÉ fabric.  We've got a great selection in the downtown store and are working to get them all up on the web!

We know you like small quits that never go out of style, and one of our most popular patterns continues to be HARVEST MOON.

The latest version uses our 2012 exclusive SUNFLOWER/WHEAT batik.

Place any order now through the end of November, and we'll send a FREE STAR-CROSSED TABLE RUNNER PATTERN.  This pattern will also be available with any purchase in the downtown store!

You can also order our runner kit featuring this beautiful exclusive SUNFLOWER/WHEAT BATIK.  The kit includes fabric for the top & back, making it completely reversible!  Front is very AUTUMN, back is very WINTER, with a POINSETTIA batik in similar colors.

Order our kit here:

If you'd like to order different fabric, the yardage requirements are as follows:  Main fabric - 1-1/8; Contrast - 3/4; Binding - 1/2; Backing - 3/4 (pieced) or 1-1/2.

Known for our fabulous SELECTION, see more than 75 pages of just BATIKS & HAND-DYES now listed on our web site!  And more in the store!

These beautiful TIGERS started out as a PANEL.  From coordinating fabric, I made a TRAVEL size one too. :)

Tigers & all our newest pillow case kits here:

If you've been in the store or read my newsletter for awhile, you'll know how fond I am of the TREMENDOUSLY TIDY TRAVEL PILLOW CASE. :)

I just love using a fabric for this, particularly a larger novelty print, that I wouldn't have another use for!  So, I tend to make lots of TRAVEL PILLOW CASES, and since they make great gifts, I'm ahead in that department too!  LOL

I recently ran across a link to this great on-line tutorial for a BAPRON - that's Baby+Apron, on the ROBERT KAUFMAN web site.

While the pillow case nicely accommodates a larger print, this project is a darling way to use a smaller, or medium size novelty print!  And they make great GIFTS too! :)

I do not have the pattern to give away or sell, as it is copyright protected, even though it is being offered for FREE.  You must go to the web site for the complete tutorial and to download the pattern:

We carry a fantastic SUPER-SOFTLY WHITE FLANNEL that is perfect for backing BAPRONS.

Because I anticipate these being washed repeatedly, I did pre-shrink the fabrics before starting.  I do not always pre-shrink the fabric being used for the bias binding because it will not really shrink the same, being on the bias.

We have loads of novelty fabrics that will make DARLING BIBS or BAPRONS!  I used a FAT QUARTER when I just wanted to make one.  You can make 3 with a half yard or have enough to make bias for a different bib.

We've been very inspired by the latest BOOK-AZINE called SEW FRESH.

Lily has been whipping up ORNAMENTS and more!  I think they'll go with my stockings! :)

Come see for yourself or order a copy today.  Great ideas for Holiday gifts & decorating on every page.

Other new books include IT'S SO EMMA'S first book,

And another good book for PRE-CUTS, TWO FROM ONE JELLY ROLL QUILTS.  We've loved Pam's & Nicky's earlier books, and think this one looks really great too!

MODA'S BAKESHOP is well known for their fresh ideas.  Check out the latest collection in their new book,

FRESH FABRIC TREATS has lots of good ideas for PRE-CUTS as well.

Looking for PRE-CUTS, check here:

WING AND A PRAYER DESIGNS has come out with another great QUILT PATTERN!  Shown here is the THROW size.  Also available in Queen & King.

The pattern is in stock now,
is a beautiful combination of piecing & appliqué.

We will have fabric by the yard and fabric kits for 3 different size quilts starting in December.  A monthly class will be available starting in January 2013.

NEW FABRICS ADDED daily!  Like this ZIG-ZAG FLANNEL from Marcus.  So soft!

Make a habit of checking here:

We pride ourselves in the SELECTION we offer customers in areas that other quilt stores never carry at all.

We have a FABULOUS collection of INTERFACINGS for all sorts of projects.

We've just added the SEW LAZY INTERFACING to our collection.  Some of them are very similar to others that we carry, but we know that patterns will start calling for these by name, and we think they are pretty neat!

Check out the entire collection here:

I hope you can come to this month's SECOND SATURDAY at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Nov. 10th.  I'll be sharing a sneak peek of the 2013 SECOND SATURDAY quilt project, that will start in January.

THIS SATURDAY we'll also be highlighting new products, books & patterns as well as some quick & easy gift and decorating ideas.

So we hope to see you anytime during the day!

Stop in soon to see the newest BARGAINS at our Mall store just 4-1/2  miles south of downtown Newton.
