Friday
December 7, 2012
Hi all!
Happy December!
Are you as busy as I am? Seems to be rushing by.
Last Saturday Lily took
me to a lovely Christmas Luncheon, a fund raiser at the local
Presbyterian Church. Different women each set &
decorated a festive table and sold tickets to fill it for lunch!
There was a fashion show by a local dress shop, and it was really fun!
There
were many beautifully elaborate tables, including our hostess', but my
favorite table was put together by my good customer, Shelley!
How cute was this! She'd set a beautiful table, and then the
ladies sat right down and starting crafting, making & decorating
their own paper xmas trees! She had xmas poppers that contained
paper crowns and she'd made them each a delightfully personalized
Christmas Stocking! Way to go Shelley!

Tomorrow morning, December 8th, is our
final SECOND SATURDAY for 2012. But we'll start a brand new one
in January! I think the fabrics should be here any day, so
please stop in for details.
Starting in January, our SECOND SATURDAY, will be
called SATURDAY SOIREE, and features either red/white or blue/white
reproduction fabrics. We'll be announcing details soon!
Charming sampler quilts, it will be
hard to choose which colorway is best!

We're
looking ahead to more 2013 BLOCK-A-MONTHS.
Just in! A YEAR TO CROW ABOUT from Red
Rooster Fabrics.
The collection and both quilts below
start with this cute PANEL:

There is a FREE PATTERN from Red
Rooster's web site,
http://www.redroosterfabrics.com/quilt/current.php

and a BLOCK-A-MONTH option which may be
available from us,

which is a bit more complicated, and we
could kit individually, or all at once.
We're still debating this one, but we
have all the FABRICS IN STOCK now. Soooo, please let us know
if you'd like the BOM!
We'll
be offering a new CIVIL WAR-era quilt,
also starting January 2013.
FREEDOM RINGS
will be offered as a class
or simply as BLOCK-A-MONTH kits without a class, or as an entire kit to be
delivered all at once.

Meanwhile, we always stock a great
selection of CIVIL WAR fabrics. Click here:

WING
AND A PRAYER DESIGNS has come out with another great QUILT
PATTERN! Available in 3 sizes, King, Queen, and shown below is the THROW size.
Notice the lack of pieced border.
CONTESSA is a beautiful combination of piecing & appliqué.
The PATTERN & FABRIC is in stock now.
The
fabric is available by the yard and in fabric kits for 3 different size quilts.
A
monthly class will be available. Please let us know if you are
interested and what time/day works best for you.

I am working on my quilt right now. There
style makes simple work of a complicated looking quilt! I
have found that the STEADY
BETTY works well for pressing blocks with lots of intersecting
seams. It is a heat-resistant foam surface, into which the seams
sink, making a flatter, better pressed block. Check
out the STEADY BETTY press boards here: http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=34404 I
still like my SPACE
BOARD, with the printed grid & hard surface. As you can see,
I must have both! LOL http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=4708

The
salespeople are making the rounds. The delivery trucks stop
twice a day and there are NEW FABRICS ADDED daily!
Make a habit of checking here:

I finally had to quit last night
without making a decision, but this new SHORT & STOUT from
Quilting Treasures really has my imagination going. We should
get it on our web site soon for you to order, but here's a preview
from QT:

We've
been having fun with this new PLACEMAT pre-cut product. Reversible!
There are so many possibilities.

And COASTERS too!
Tip: Just pre-shape the bias trim
before trying to apply. Maybe I'll have time to shoot some pics
as I do it next time! :)

Do
you still need some "quick gifts"?
Fast2Clean Micro fiber Cleaning
Cloths,
package includes 1 large cloth, plus 1 medium cloth and 2 mini static-cling cleaners.
Washable, Re-useable, Antimicrobial, Lint-Free.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=34402
Designed by Barbara Brackman, these CLEANING CLOTHS look like an antique Civil War
quilt! Of course you'd never clean your computer screen with one of
those, but these "new fangled" things are so great for
electronics, glasses, and more.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=34402
I've stuck one to the front of my
computer and one inside my handy vinyl card holder that rides in my
purse. And one I keep next to my sewing machine & lap top work
area at home.
And, check out this great new MODERN
GROUP from WINDHAM FABRICS!

DYI KITCHEN ACCESSORIES
are all the rage right now. OVEN MITS, HOT PADS, APRONS, and
more! We've got two great patterns from Vanilla
House. What makes them especially great is their ideas for
GIFT GIVING.
Each pattern has a
recipe, and artwork which you can duplicate to package the baking mix
and include in a gift bag, coordinated with other accessories.
How Fun!

I
recently tried my hand at the popular JELLY ROLL RACE quilt. I had
custom cut a JELLY ROLL from NOVELTY
& SPORTS fabrics we have in the store.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=34342
There are only 21 strips in our
roll. Rather than use two SPORTS rolls, I decided to use part of a
BLACK BELLA SOLID JELLY ROLL from Moda to make up my 40
strips.
Well, my quilt didn't turn out to suit
me, so I cut it up into squares, and used a QUILT AS YOU GO technique to
finish it. Now I LOVE IT. It is really unusual, and I was able
to quilt each square on my home sewing machine! The
"hinges" are stitched with a feather stitch by machine.
Rows go together quickly and you can make it whatever size you need.
Tired of paying to quilt even the little
quilts you are gifting? Click here to see all the QUILT AS YOU GO
patterns from BUTTERFLY
EXPRESS.

MAGIC STACK N WHACK! What a great
print this is for any fun KALEIDOSCOPE TECHNIQUE. Here's
a fun TUTORIAL from the original Stack-N-Whack queen, Bethany Reynolds,
that I think you'll enjoy! There are so many good tips out there! http://www.bethanyreynolds.com/coasters.html
If
ASIAN fabrics
are your "THING", be sure to check out this new TRADITIONAL
ASIAN group, called GION
from Red Rooster Fabrics. Rita,
whose daughter and family live in Japan, just finished piecing this
quilt.
"Gion" is a district in Kyoto, Japan.

FREE PATTERN can be downloaded at Red Rooster's web site. In stock now,
you can check out our GION
KIT here: http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=34403 The
