IT'S A BANNER DAY kit, like the quilt pictured here, is available now.  To make it go even faster, we've included a paper-piecing guide for those half-wheel buntings.

Like so many others this week, we've really been struggling with our emotions.  We feel the need to do something for the people of Moore, Oklahoma and others affected by the string of tornadoes. What to do for so many who have lost their home and everything in it?

As quilters, our first impulse is to provide quilts, but it sounds like what they need most right now is $$.  If you haven't already, please check this web site for a list of very legitimate charities, everything from the Red Cross to the Central Oklahoma Humane Society can use your help.

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/20/18381508-how-to-help-oklahoma-tornado-victims?lite

Meanwhile, please continue to make quilts for those in need.  I will send out a plea for quilts when I have a direct contact person and a means of delivery.  I have several contacts in Oklahoma, and am sure they will help with distribution when the time is right.  Thanks for all your offers of generosity.

As this season of unstable air continues, particularly those of us in "tornado alley", need to remain alert and prepared.  I'm particularly interested in the stories of people who "just had a feeling", and so raced to gather up family members and got to shelters.  Please be prepared, pay attention and be careful out there!

Always curious about extreme weather, I have found a lot of very interesting and helpful information regarding lightning and tornadoes at this web site:

Lightning, while potentially dangerous, can be beautiful.  Check out this LIGHTNING ART FABRIC called SKYLIGHTS from Frond Design Studios

I am still having fun with the MODERN QUILT genre.

In one of my latest I used lots of fabrics (27 different ones) and no "white space".

This quilt is from Julie Herman's SKIP THE BORDERS.  Called SQUARE CITY, I used a lot of my current favorite blue, green, and teal fabrics, and then tossed in a bit of taupe, for variety.

You can order a bundle like mine here:

We have so many BLACK & WHITE fabrics in the downtown store.  A great selection to have a lot of fun with!

It will be available starting WEDNESDAY JUNE 5.  Details in next week's newsletter.
