Hi all!

Happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday to my Mother! :)

And CHRISTMAS IS COMING!  How weird does that sound?

This week we received the LAYER CAKES & JELLY ROLLS, which are squares and strips cut from JOVIAL, this year's basicgrey Holiday Fabric for MODA.  Check them out now.  The fabric on bolts will follow soon!  But these pre-cuts have a way of disappearing quickly.

Spring is just beautiful here now.  But Randy & I are heading north to Quebec to see the sites, and it looks like we might catch a bit more cold weather.  I'm packing a scarf and down vest!  Maybe I should carry a quilt?  hahaha 

  I'd love to carry this bright & cheerful ANNIE quilt, that I just made using Valori Wells' pattern and her NEST fabric line.  "Put a BIRD on it!" 

What a great way to feature a LARGE PRINT fabric.  An unusual asymmetric quilt design.  Check it out!

Hopefully, soon, there will be some IRIS in my yard.  This old house had hundreds of vintage iris in the yard when we bought it more than 25 years ago.  Unfortunately, I've not kept up with them, but every now and then a bloom surprises me!

So that anticipation was inspiration for my version of Castilleja Cotton’s IRIS pattern. 

The kit includes pattern, fabric for top, binding & back. Finishes approx. 11.5 x 23.5 inches. 

I used hand-dyed fabrics and Hoffman’s gorgeous purple, green, yellow batik to border this little picture quilt.

I do it all by machine, using a Schmetz TOPSTITCH NEEDLE to accomodate size 16 Pearl Cotton thread on my Bernina.  I choose to do a blanket stitch on the raw edges of the fused appliqué pieces.

I really like SOFT-FUSE for the iron-on as it stays very soft and flexible, even when building up several layers.

I've also been working on several other projects.  I did finish this SIMPLE QUILT.  I started with TUMBLER BLOCKS that I cut with the die-cutter. 

We have Accu-cutter at CHARLOTTE'S BARGAIN FABRIC location and you can rent it by the hour.  Check it out!  Anyway, this quilt sews together very, very quickly!  Great baby or lap quilt.

We've got a couple of pre-cut KITS too!  Pick out your own borders or do it like mine.

Other NEW KITS include PLUM BLOSSOM.  Another "put a bird on it"!  Can't have too many birds!  LOL  But I really like this one too!  Fast to sew, striking design, features large print well.
