Hi all!
Today through Saturday
the big Prairie Quilt Guild
QUILT SHOW is being held at Wichita's Century II. If you're
in the "neighborhood", we hope you'll stop by one of the
stores in Newton. You'll be glad you did!
Charlotte's Sew Natural
downtown, and Charlotte's Bargain Fabric on SE 36th St. Newton, each
have QUILT SHOWS going all the time!
We have one of the
LARGEST SELECTIONS of FABRIC, KITS, PRE-CUTS & FAT QUARTERS to
satisfy any desires! LOL
And
we're only about 25 minutes north of downtown Wichita on I-135.

I am not vending at the
show this year. My only daughter is getting married next
weekend, and my friends, more experienced with family weddings,
strongly suggested I would be taking on too much if I tried to do the
show & prepare for the wedding too. FRIENDS are so
valuable! :) I am very glad I took their advise!
I do have 2 ORIGINAL
quilts hanging in the show.
One is BALI
BASKETS WITH PEACOCK. This is the quilt I designed using the
book ABUNDANCE and a combination of cotton prints & batiks.
We're making the sampler blocks in our 2ND SATURDAY classes.
There are COMPLETE KITS available too. Click here for details:

I'm
also showing FRIENDS,
a quilt I designed using two other designers' patterns. My
friend Susan is a "ranch girl". She loves horses and
all things vintage. This line of fabric was conveniently named URBAN
COWGIRL, and I love the variety of old-looking prints.

There
are many ways to cut the TUMBLER SHAPES. You can use a
die-cutter, like the Accu-Cut which we rent time on at the Bargain
store. Or use a TEMPLATE
for rotary cutting.

Once I cut them, I
tossed them in a bag, and pulled them out at random, to stitch
together.
I stitched and stitched,
pairs to pairs, etc., until I had one long strip. Then I folded
it in equal sections and cut it apart.
I explored different
ways to line up the THIMBLE SHAPES, settled on one, then stitched the
rows together.
When I assembled the
quilt, the rows are running vertically, up & down, which gives
them a different look all together!
You could choose any
number of motifs to appliqué to your quilt, or leave it plain.
But be sure to check out all of Darcy
Ashton's books. This talented Oklahoman has many good ideas
& inspirations packed in her animal series!

There is a new BUCK-A-BLOCK
THANGLES program available to pick up in the Main Street store.
Rita finished piecing
another LONE STAR using
QUILTSMART. It is quilted and on display now!

Meanwhile, I'm going
continue with the wedding planning.
She's tried on dresses
we didn't like (I can't show real one, as that is a secret from
Francis!), and I've even tried hair we didn't like, but now we're
heading to the finish line and are very happy with all our decisions
and will show beautiful pictures next time!
Hope to see
you
soon.
Sincerely,
Charlotte Wolfe
