 Wednesday August 1, 2012

Hi all!

If you are not my neighbor, my hope for you is that you live somewhere with rain!  If you are my neighbor, then let us all join in a "pity party" to complain about how much time we now spend watering!

Even as my garden is burning up, I am looking forward to Renee Nanneman's new book, GARDEN GATE.  You can pre-order it here now:

http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=32891

I love her collaborative concept!  She writes, "Developing a 'Threads' book is much like growing a garden. I plant the idea seeds, a visual theme, such as Garden Gate. The concept grows as my designer friends sketch and create. . . . Some projects bloom early and others are worth the wait. The growing season is longer than one might think."  I take heart in that thought for my own garden, but I believe she's saying that this book has been in the works for a couple of years.

If you are familiar with Renee's work, you know that she has been busy with lots of things in the meantime.

Come to our web site for lots of great RENEE NANNEMAN products, with more stuff coming soon.

Here's another treat!  Check out this great video of Renee's presentation for ANDOVER FABRICS in Kansas City this past May.  I hope you find it as interesting as I did.  We have lots of the fabrics she's talking about so come see us soon!

Rita recently finished a BITTY BROKEN LONE STAR, using some of Renee's BELLA BLISS for Andover.

The piecing was simplified using PRINTED INTERFACING from QUILTSMART to make all the star points the SAME perfect size!

See the KIT here for BELLA BLISS BITTY BROKEN LONE STAR:

As HOT as the days have been, sometimes early morning is just perfect for sitting on the patio,  doing a little binding by hand.  This morning wasn't too bad.

I've finished up the store model for VINTAGE ROUGE.  Stop in to see it hanging downtown.  This quilt finishes approx. 79 x 79 inches.

The VINTAGE ROUGE KITS are cut and ready to go, if you want to purchase all the fabrics at once.

We're also offering it as a BOM - actually, several blocks a month.

I will be teaching a SIX MONTH CLASS beginning in September.  There are lots of neat, time-saving techniques in this quilt and it will be a fun LECTURE-DEMO class.  Details soon.

I am looking forward to a bit more time for inside sewing as the days shorten and we see cooler weather.

But first, we have August and September to get through!! (Happy August with the 10 day forecast including more 100-degree days!)

QUILT SHOP HOP!  October 5th, 6th, & 7th!

OCTOBER will bring us the Central Kansas QUILT SHOP HOP!   Maybe this is why I am day-dreaming of cooler weather!

I am working on my EXCLUSIVE QUILT, using our EXCLUSIVE BATIK from Hoffman.  It is very "autumnal"!

List of the 11 shops & other details on the HOP can be found here:
