Welcome to
The 2006 Charlotte's Other Quilt Club Featuring Thimbleberries Fabrics.
October Mini-Quilt

Lori Smith’s
FRIENDS REMEMBERED mini quilt.
-
Start with 8 fat quarters included in this month's
shipment. Also use some fabrics from previous
months to get a nice mix of colors.
-
Follow the pattern on
page 3 of FAT QUARTER QUILTING: SIMPLY CHARMING.
-
You
can follow Lori's color picture for fabric choices or
branch out on your own.
-
Sew
together one of the 2 ways described in the pattern -
simply piecing or paper-piecing.
-
Or
you can follow my tips:
Using
a foundation improves accuracy. Using a foundation
that doesn't have to be removed (as paper does) is faster
yet!
Open
the pdf file at right. Be sure to print it exactly to
maintain real size.
-
Trace
this shape onto light-weight fusible interfacing (Pellon
911FF)
-
Lay
fabric squares (1¼" works well) on fusible side of
interfacing.
-
Cover
with Teflon press cloth, fusing fabrics to interfacing.
-
Fold
on lines so fabrics are right sides together.
-
Stitch
scant 1/4" seams. Stitch all horizontal
seams.
-
Clip
on intersection lines, to stitching line, so that you
can fold on the vertical, and alternate the directions
of the seam allowances.
-
Stitch
and press.
-
Trim
stitched block to measure 4¼". This block
will finish 3¾"

This quilt consists of 7-1/2"
blocks and measures approx. 72" x 89" when
finished. Designed and copyrighted by Lori Smith.
After making the
16" x 20" mini-quilt, there will be enough fabric
to make some 7-1/2" blocks each month. You may choose to
receive more fabric each month**, insuring you can make 7
blocks monthly and complete the fabulous sampler quilt
pictured above in just 12 months.
