Hi All!
Spring is really sprung here, the red bud trees are in full bloom and today is warm with a fierce wind. Yup, this is Kansas!
Welcome, if you've just signed up to receive my emails, and especially if you've just discovered us on-line. And even if you've received my letters for so long now that you feel like we're old friends, I'd like to invite you to browse through my web store:
http://www.sewnatural.net>We'll include a FREE PATTERN for a FUZZY COLLAR with every order today through April 17th. If you're not familiar with my "fuzzy" patterns, click here:
http://www.sewnatural.com/nl.asp?s=fuzzy
Just in time for the changing season, we now have the very newest SEASONS CHARM
KIT - from KANSAS TROUBLES QUILTERS. Comes with an exclusive pattern and all fabrics to make a TABLE RUNNER for just $24.49.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=6217
We also have a new QUILT KIT from Moda's Brannock & Patek newest fabric line, GATHERINGS. Wonderful red background floral border.
The quilt is pieced with a variety of blues, greens and reds with a scrappy-look
assortment of tans for the background.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=6218
I really loved this quilt, a variation of Drunkard's Path, and just had to make it the minute it came in the door. I made notes on all the things I did to speed up the process.
As a special "BONUS" I will gladly send you a copy of my notes with the kit.
I used Perfect Patchwork DRUNKARD'S PATH TEMPLATES for rotary cutting.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=3938
I used the CURVEMASTER foot on my sewing machine to piece the curves without pinning.

March 24, 2005
Hi All!
HAPPY SPRING & HAPPY EASTER!
This week has been Spring Break for the kids in the area, but Mother Nature
played another dirty trick on them! The weather has been very cold and
rainy! My lucky daughter & her friend Hannah got to spend 4 days with
my parents in Florida. They had a really fun time, even though it was too
cool there for any real "beach lounging".
But, while they were gone I "whipped" up a VERY QUICK 3-6-9 QUILT. I made it SPRINGY in luscious peach-froth colors with a touch of purple and green. I used 18 different FAT
QUARTERS from 2 collections: CHARMS from Benartex and PATTERNS OF HISTORY
from Moda. I had it machine-quilted using the old-fashioned cotton
batting. Once washed and dried it already looks cuddly, soft and slightly
vintage. I used a neat technique for applying the binding totally by
machine. I cut my bias binding, then stitched wide ric-rac to the center,
folded the bias on this new stitching line, then applied the bias to the back of
the quilt, wrapped to the front and stitched by machine "in-the-ditch"
between the ric-rac and binding. Adds just a nice little touch to the
quilt. Very fast and my quilt is very done! Yea!
You can see more details and information for ordering a kit here:
3-6-9 Peach Charms Quilt
kit including fabrics and pattern.
With Spring Break and all, we've been quite busy, but still found some time to
add lots of new items to the web store. Check out our newest
feature which allows you to see a FAT QUARTER as a separate item of each
fabric. The latest fabrics to be added to the web store,
including the Benartex CHARMS Collection, will all have the FAT QUARTER OPTION.
We sell so many fat quarters here in the store on Main St., and I'm so happy
that we're finally able to offer you, our WEB CUSTOMERS, this same option in the
web store.
This is an example of what the NEW FEATURE looks like:

Have a great weekend and HAPPY EASTER!

March 15, 2005
Hi All!
Wow - March has been busy! I've already been to Florida and back, to see my parents and to celebrate my dad's birthday. That was
fun. After months of waiting, they had their new
Toyota Prius, a hybrid car, and I REALLY had fun driving it. They live in a kind of
rural area, spotted with lakes, and no straight roads, north of Tampa and it was
lots of fun to set the guidance navigation system and let "Gypsy"
(GPS) tell me the way back to their house each time!
My mom and I had fun going to the Tampa Quilt Guild's quilt show and I
enjoyed meeting lots of vendors and local quilters. Then we went
"shop hopping" and explored a variety of area quilt stores. My
mom is a docent at the Tampa Museum of Art and I was fascinated by the quilts on exhibit
there through April 3 - "Signs & Symbols,
African American Quilts". Very interesting and a history left out of
many quilt history books!
To
fill the hours being spent on an airplane, I had carried along a hand appliqué project
from my "Other Quilt
Club", featuring this year's Thimbleberries Quilt Club fabrics, but
somehow managed to leave the background piece in Kansas! Even having all the
vendors at the quilt show, and several very nice stores in the Tampa Bay area,
there was hardly any THIMBLEBERRIES fabric at all, and none of what I needed! So, if you are a
Midwestern "snowbird" or transplant to the south, or a Southerner who like
THIMBLEBERRIES, we have a great selection both on-line and here in the store and I invite you to take a look at all
the new fabrics we have to offer!
The latest Thimbleberries' QUILT CLUB "CIRCLE OF LOVE" fabric
collection is on-line now. You can check it out here:
http://www.sewnatural.com/nl.asp?s=RJR-55
Since I'm
in to HAND APPLIQUÉ I'm always surprised that more of you
aren't! I'm determined to recruit a few more each month, sure that you'll
thank me later! I've even added a new APPLIQUÉ TIP to the TIPS &
TECHNIQUES page. Please check out this link:
http://www.sewnatural.net/AppliqueGraphicsTemplates.htm
There's also a new "Tips" on using THANGLES. Every time I
mention THANGLES, the easiest, most accurate way to make HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES,
someone who has never heard of, or used them, writes to ask for more info.
Now you can read all about THANGLES here:
http://www.sewnatural.net/Thangles.htm
With
every order through March 21st, we'll include a FREE PATTERN for a 5-STAR RUNNER.
You could start by ordering the complete KIT for this TABLE RUNNER.
Click here for details and a more detailed picture of the 5-Star Runner.
We'll include everything - the PATTERN, the FABRICS for top, back and
binding, 2" THANGLES, 3 colors of COTTON THREAD and a piece of Hobbs
Heirloom 80/20 FUSIBLE BATTING for just $28.99. Finished size
approx. 14" x 38".
I used GLORIA! by Bonnie Sullivan for Maywood and if you like Americana
and Folk-Art, you'll want to take a closer look at this collection of fabric.
more GLORIA! fabrics.
Or see even more of GLORIA! in our quilt kit, STARS & STRIPES designed
by Jackie Robinson of Animas Quilt Publishing.
Click here to see the Stars & Stripes quilt kit.
I used THANGLES, the easiest, most
accurate method yet invented, to make the HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES used in this
runner (which, could as easily hang on a door, side of a refrigerator or filing
cabinet, as lay on a table!).
Click here to learn more about THANGLES.
SAVE EVERYDAY when you join CHARLOTTE'S SHOPPER'S CLUB! SAVE 20% off
all regularly priced merchandise through December 2005. For example, the
GLORIA! TABLE RUNNER KIT, regularly priced $28.99 would cost a member just
$23.19!

2/18/05
Hi All!
Just 10 days ago I wrote to you as it was snowing and I
was working on my Santa appliqué block of the month. Now, today, it is
very Spring-like. Monday, Valentine's Day, was very nice too and I saw not
only lots of "hearts" but also flowers thanks to Randy &
Lily! xox

Our CLASSIC FOLK ART Blocks-of-the-Month program continues with a charming
HEARTS & TULIPS appliqué block and coordinating CORN & BEANS pieced
block.
If you would like to MAIL ORDER these kits, each theme
is available for just $13.99 a month, plus $2.50 shipping & handling if that is
all we mail to you. (We'll adjust your invoice to reflect the
proper charges, as it will automatically add $4.95 - don't worry!) These
will mail the week following the Second Saturday of each month. We can
mail both the January and February blocks at this time.
Check out all the details and lots more pictures,
including two possibilities for finishing the blocks into quilts.
http://www.sewnatural.net/second_saturday.htm
If
small blocks are your thing, CHARLOTTE'S OTHER QUILT CLUB, is also available by mail order.
In
this BLOCKS-A-MONTH program, I'm using RJR's THIMBLEBERRIES' QUILT CLUB fabrics
and making SIX INCH BLOCKS. They are really sweet. Since they're
small and not too complicated, we will often be making more than one block a
month. Check it all out at this link:
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=5780
We will be using the
book, SELECT SIX, from The Quilt
Company to make 12 blocks in the first 6 months. You can receive monthly mailings
of fat quarters and instructions to make the blocks. Check out the details
by clicking the link above.
Kay
has been busy scanning and adding lots of "wearables" patterns to the
web store. Take a look at "What's New" for a quick over-all
view.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nl.asp?c=58&p=17
CANYON
JACKET is just one recent addition. Watch for some great STRIPED
fabrics and PATCHWORK kits to be added soon too.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=5965
As
I continue to celebrate the start of my 21st year in business, I'd like to share
a FREE "ewe-nique" PATTERN "I LUV EWE TOO", with everyone
who places an order in the web store between now and the end of February. I was inspired by a darling little sheep's head button.
You can order the
kit containing the same wool I used, plus the button if you like!
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=5973
A print newsletter went out recently in the mail. But you can see it on the web site at:
http://www.sewnatural.net/newsletter.htm
MONDAY Feb. 21st is PRESIDENT'S DAY and we're having a
FAT QUARTER FRENZY. We'll have a special selection of fat quarters 20/$20
in honor of my 20th ANNIVERSARY.
ALL other FAT QUARTERS, regularly priced $2.50 each, will be 25 for the price of
20. i.e. 25/$50
Hope you can make it into the Newton store. If not, check the web store on
MONDAY ONLY for special bundles which we will put together at these special
prices.
THURSDAY MARCH 10, 6 - 8 pm, Charlotte's Sew Natural,
Prairie Harvest, Provident Bookstore, Katherine's and Yoga Center of Newton will
be holding an event by women for women - "MIND, BODY, SPIRIT, PULL YOURSELF
TOGETHER . . . and pull together for the Harvey County Safe House for victims of
domestic violence." Tickets are $10 each or $15 for two tickets
(bring a friend!) $5 of every ticket will go directly to the Safe
House. You will have the opportunity to visit 5 Downtown Newton businesses
and enjoy short presentations, based on our theme "Pull Yourself
Together", being offered continuously at each location, indulge in dessert
& beverages at Prairie Harvest and discover great shopping available in
downtown Newton. Purchase tickets by March 8 from any of us and TREAT
YOURSELF TO A COME-AND-GO EVENING OF INFORMATION, SHARING AND INSPIRATION!
Have a great day and the rest of the weekend and I hope you can find some time to sew!
Sincerely,
Charlotte Wolfe
