Hi all!
We're busy putting the
finishing touches on our plans for the upcoming SMART-EASE SUMMER
SCHOOL FOR QUILTERS, featuring QUILTSMART products.
Join us SATURDAY JUNE
30th at the Dyck Arboretum of the Plains in Hesston for a full day of
mini-classes, lunch and opportunity to view special quilts and of
course, shop! :)
The day will be filled
with 11 different 15 to 20 minute class sessions. We'll cover
specific projects, from a simple CELL PHONE HOLDER to a DOUBLE WEDDING
RING QUILT, as well as techniques from simple FLYING GEESE to the more
complex LONE STAR (which will seem easy by the time we're showing you
this one!) And we'll be demonstrating the latest and greatest
from ELEANOR BURNS' newest book, MAGIC VINE. So don't miss
out.
Oh, and did I mention
the fabulous lunch we'll be serving? You don't have to bring
anything but yourself, your glasses (we don't want you to miss the
details), and a pencil to taking notes. We'll even give you an
exclusive "text book" for future reference. All this
for just $45. Limited seating available.
Pre-registration is a
must. You can register on-line or phone the store, 316-284-2547.

My daughter Lily is now
home after a 2-week stint of intensive Spanish language study in Costa Rica. Lily
& my mom decided this would be a fun thing to do together.
They stayed with a host family. Here's a picture of Lily and
Adri. Adri's brother is in the background. :) Lily
even got Adri "hooked" on yo-yo making. If you look
closely, you'll see the yo-yo maker in Adri's hand.
Mom & Lily really had fun & learned a lot, but Lily was more than a
little "out of her element". Into the second week she
wrote:
". . . as I was
trying to sleep last night, there was a huge attack of bugs!
That's right, there were two loco cockroaches longer than my thumb.
Then there was of course tons of beetles and other small things like
that. then finally, here's the max of the story, an incredible
black spider. It might have been a type of tarantula, but I don't
know. I could have put it in my hand and it would have almost
covered the entire thing. It was black and when I put my flash
light on it, it's eyes reflected the light and it was soooo creepy.
It was about 2 feet away from my bed. I was freaking out big
time. it was so big, it had to move slowly, one fat leg at a
time. ahhhh!!!!!!!! The worst part is, I couldn't kill it.
I couldn't get under the desk to smash it so it's still living in my
room, along with the cockroaches and other million bugs that I have
yet to discover. I'm ready to come home!"
Lily's email (after I
stopped laughing) made me
think about who actually "likes" bugs and creepy crawly
things. And most of those I could think of are under 4-feet tall
and aren't girls!

So we put together, just
for "bug lovers" a couple of "fun" travel pillow
case kits! Check them all out here:

Lily did take lots of other
pictures. She was fascinated by the flora and fauna. The
host family owns an orchid business. The orchid in Lily's hand
is a "Dracula Orchid". And Lily likes spiders in their
own web just fine! :)

Today we are off on a
family vacation to Estes Park, Colorado. I have a feeling I'm
about to discover how really out of shape I am!
I hope you can stop in as we have lots of new fabrics, including lots
of HALLOWEEN FABRICS (with and without spiders!). And beautiful
florals, including GRAMERCY PARK from Marcus Brothers.
Check out the WHAT'S
NEW section of the web site. Trenna and Hannah have been
very busy!

Hope to see you soon!
Have a great week!
