 January 20, 2011

Hi all!

Marti & Me Club & American Beauty Sampler are not cancelled.

There are 3 sessions today.  The first is at 10 a.m., repeating at 1:30 & 7 pm.

The weather may be frightful, but Mary & I each live only a few blocks from the store.

We do not want you to take a risk getting here.  But since we'd hate for someone (who didn't think it was that bad) to make the effort to come, only to find it cancelled, we will hold the class despite the weather, as long as we have electricity!  (Fingers crossed!  LOL)

If you are enrolled in either, and wish to take advantage of the day's special pricing, please phone the store with a credit card and we'll hold or mail your merchandise.  Thanks!

Especially on these ugly, grey days, we love the dependability of the UPS and FedEx guys.  We find ourselves listening for a truck in the alley.  They can be depended on to show up and brighten our lives with their great attitude and they bring such NEAT STUFF!

Now who thinks those arrows printed on boxes ever get noticed and who was so curious to see what was inside our box?!  LOL

We hope your curiosity brings you in soon to see all the latest & greatest.  We have got SPRING blooming around here!

When the spirit moves us (& I have enough staff around) we like to re-arrange the store.

I know, I know, you guys think you don't like this, but trust me, you do see the fabric in a different light when this happens!

So, we moved some things around this past week and Breckyn is getting the PRE-CUTS just as organized on the web as they are now in the store.  She has photographed each and every one, and we'll have all the pictures matched up soon!

Mary has been creating lots of new little models.  Check out our JERI KELLY department for some really cute, simple, fusible appliqué projects.

BUNDLE UP, the cute little snowman with his broom is shown at the top of this page.  Add a WIRE STAND for a great table-top decoration.

HEART TRIO is also show up above.  What a great, quick VALENTINE!

And if you're looking ahead to SPRING, check out the innocence of COTTON TAIL:

A little more involved project, including piecing & appliqué, finishing approximately 60 inch square, this quilt would make a great wall quilt to brighten up any room from January to January!  Valentines' all year long!!

The Joy of Life - Written as a 9-part sampler, it can be stitched using either the needle-turn or blanket stitch appliqué techniques.

This beautiful quilt was designed by Rosalie Quinlan as she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. It is a reflection of her journey and the joy that she has found in everyday life.  MONTHLY KIT price will include pattern & fabric for top.

Mary will teach a variety of applique methods, hand and machine, in this class which meets 1st Thursdays at 10 a.m. & 7 p.m.  First class will meet Feb. 3.

This year there we're starting a new SAMPLER QUILT, again using REPRODUCTION CIVIL WAR ERA fabrics made by Marcus Fabrics.

The Civil War Chronicles BOM quilt features twelve blocks that tell the stories of twelve women who encountered their own struggles on the home front while their husbands were away.

Each pattern includes historical background and biographies about the generals' wives.

Patterns includes many new features over last year's pattern series, including finished sizes for individual units within the blocks, color diagrams, and more quick-trick piecing techniques.

If you'd like some encouragement and help, consider joining our class.

Civil War Chronicles -  The class will meet on the 2nd Thursday at 1:30 and the 2nd Saturday at 10:30.  Classes start February 10th & February 12th.

Wildflower or Tonga Rhapsody - Queen-size sampler quilt with 2 settings available. Class meets 7 p.m. - 2nd Thursdays.  There's still time to join.  The 2nd class meets Feb. 10.

RHAPSODY is offered with two different settings.  We'll be cutting kits in their new TIMELESS TREASURES fabric line of the same name, WILDFLOWER RHAPSODY.

We'll also be cutting kits from TIMELESS TONGA BATIKS & HAND-DYED fabrics.

If you'd like to add some classes & camaraderie to 2011, consider joining one of our on-going club/classes.
