Hi all!

Happy Spring! Quick reminder, Second Saturday is tomorrow.  I'll start at 9 a.m.  All are welcome!

What a week, again!  This time, we had an April ice storm.  The next morning was an awesome sight, with all the trees encapsulated with ice!

This picture doesn't really capture it, but the arched trees were shiny & bright against the blue sky, and it seemed to go on forever down the street!  Unlike some of you to the east of us, we didn't suffer any serious damage.  And now the sun is out and the warm air has returned!  Yea!

I made some new placemats using the latest HOFFMAN FABRICS.  We've got kits cut and the pattern is simple!  Come check it out!

This week, I've still been working on LOG CABIN quilts, and planning for my CLASS and MODELS for SATURDAY SCHOOLHOUSE, April 20th.

Hope to see you here!

I think that understanding LOG CABIN blocks is extremely useful for doing many types of quilt piecing!  I am now working on an IMPROVISATIONAL LOG CABIN quilt.  Any interest in a class?

Saturday APRIL 20TH, 9:30 to 5

  • Attend different classroom demonstrations at each school (quilt shop) My topic will be "Log Cabin Quilts - Traditional to Modern".
  • Demos begin each hour from 9:30 until 3:30 on the half hour

Finishing lots of quilts in a short time, I've been attaching the binding all by machine.  Again, one of my most favorite and useful tools in the LIL' STICKS.

Check it out:

Toni & Jenny from WING AND A PRAYER DESIGNS spoke at Prairie Quilt Guild in March, and showed their
group that builds off the pretty CONTESSA COLLECTION.

Hooray!  The HEARTFELT HOLIDAY fabrics are HERE!

Come get them now and have your projects done by December!

Their PATTERN is nearly ready! ;)  We'll mail to you if we have to.

The HOLIDAY PANEL & coordinating HOLIDAY FABRICS can be seen here:

Looking for a great "YOUTH QUILT"?

Breckyn just finished DOODLE-ZOO, a twin-size quilt featuring a charming animal panel from RJR.

Perfect for a "modern jungle" theme bedroom!  Check out the line of fabric and quilt kit here:

Great any time of the year, CHARLIE BROWN and the PEANUTS gang in

At CHARLOTTE'S SEW NATURAL, downtown, we have received many new fabrics again this week, and have added dozens more bolts to the south store (on SE 36th St) where they have become BARGAIN FABRICS!  Be sure to check them all out.

Plus Newest Additions to the web.  Lily says there are more than 30 pages again!

We are eagerly anticipating the MACHINE QUILTERS SHOWCASE, happening at Century II in Wichita May 13 through 18, with CLASSES, QUILT SHOW & RICKY TIMS!

While we won't have a booth or be vending at Century II, if you are from out of town, we hope you'll make time to stop by one or both of our stores in Newton, just 25 miles north on I-135.  Please ask if we can accomodate you with special hours, and we'll try!

If you are at all interested in machine quilting, the MQS is an excellent opportunity to take quilt classes from famous teachers, try out a variety of long-arm quilting machines, and see fabulous examples of machine quilted quilts.  These aren't your "great-grandmother's" quilts!  LOL

For more information, click here or stop in the store.  We have class catalogs.  If you are available to VOLUNTEER, you can earn FREE CLASSES!

Tonight begins the annual MCC SALE, held in Hutchinson.

The KANSAS MENNONITE RELIEF SALE, is in Hutchinson at the Fair Grounds starting this evening through Saturday afternoon.

A few of the hundreds of quilts at the 2007 saleThere are a lot of QUILTS there, waiting for new homes!  So if you have family & friends who will never get a finished quilt from you, or who want more than you can produce, send them to the Sale! :)

The QUILT AUCTION, a SALE favorite, features over 200 beautiful hand made quilts, wall quilts, afghans, comforters and other quilt-related items. The quilt auction tradition is one very special way that Mennonite women and men of Kansas use their abilities to provide resources for those in need throughout our world.

My family is heading over tonight, so maybe we'll see some of you there!

Have a wonderful weekend.  Hope to see you soon!
