Hi all!

The heat is on!  And sew is the sewing!  :)

Between waterings, are you finishing a few projects?  I hope so!

Be sure to check out our excellent selection of WIDE BACKS, perfect for large quilts.

We have one of the best selections of 100% cotton, 103 to 108 inch wide backing around!  Select from solids, prints & batiks.

We also boast one of the best selections of BATTING!  We have batting by the yard, on rolls, in the classroom.  We also have BATS IN THE CLOSET!  Yes, packaged batting is in the hallway, closet and king-size bats are in the "throne room".  :)

We carry a variety of HOBBS & QUILTER'S DREAM in cotton, polyester, blends, in a variety of weights and sizes.  If you need batting, check out our selection.  We are also happy to special order any special sizes or weights.

We do not list anywhere near all our batting on the web site, as the shipping is hard to predict since it is bulky and lightweight.  If you need something sent to you, we are happy to let you know what we have on hand, and how much it will cost to mail.

This Saturday, July 13th, is SECOND SATURDAY.

At 9 a.m. I will be demonstrating
PART 2 of the Finishing Instructions for SATURDAY SOIREE, GALLERY IN RED & BLUE as well as the 7th sampler block.  Looking forward to seeing you here in the downtown store.

I will also be demonstrating another fun technique I've been using in a recent project.  So come see what I've been up to, as well as SHOW & SHARE from other customers and staff members. :)

The 2nd block in our newest BUCK A BLOCK, is ready to pick up.  The Bonus kit includes a "solid gold" fabric this month.  Ooooh, how rich!  LOL

The monthly BLOCK KIT for a BUCK to be picked up in the store, will contain 1 white strip & one black strip, and each month a different block pattern to make a 7-inch finished block.  You'll also need a package of 1.75" Thangles.

BONUS KITS will be available each month, to make the block larger, finishing at 14".  Each month's bonus kit will feature a different solid color, as well as a different black/white print.  You'll always use the same pattern (available in the first month's kit which has solid purple fabric - Go Cats!) to make the units which are added to the 7-inch block.  The strips will be cut to size.  These kits cost $3.99.  You'll also need 3.5" Thangles.

See the entire selection of THANGLES sizes here:

BUCK-A-BLOCK may be MAIL ORDERED.  $8.49/monthly includes postage or just $4.99 when added to any other order that month.

Designed by Wing And A Prayer Designs, this is a "mystery" quilt.

You get to know what the fabrics look like, but not the finished quilt.  Fun!

We're offering a special selection of TONGA BATIKS selected especially to solve this MYSTERY QUILT puzzle!

It can be finished in 3 sizes. The larger size takes more blocks, but you'll have enough fabric to follow the precise step-by-step instructions twice, producing enough blocks.

Finished sizes: 62" square (basic simple borders),
68" square (basic accent borders), 78" x 90" (large simple borders surround more blocks)

I have some great "summer dishes" that have HULA GIRLS around the rim of the plates & bowls.  They are really fun.

I'm making new, reversible placemats to go with them, and reversing to go with my standard red, everyday plates as well.

Now I got really clever!  I need 8 matching placemats, sometimes.  But not always.  One side on all 8 will be the green print, which is a "travelogue" print, complete with HULA GIRLS! :)  The other side, the floral, will be on 4 mats, and also match the Hula plates, but the other 4 mats will reverse to the black print, which goes with the red plates.  Cool, and lots of variety for my table!

But they all need to be bound with the same fabric.  So, I laid out the first 4 mats on the table to see what I thought I might use for binding.  Then I ran down to the store (I only live a few blocks away) to get a couple of options.  When I returned, Meiko had decided he was a plate!!  LOL

I scolded, and moved the placemats to the sewing room.  I returned to the store, cut my selected fabric, and ran right home again.  Now Fluffy was soooo happy I'd moved the new placemats to her favorite hang-out, my ironing board!  Bad kitties!!  LOL
