Hi all!

Another week, another foot of rain!  Many of you have suffered with water in your homes, and I feel for you.  We have been lucky on that score, but I feel like Charlie Harper's baby elephant - look for the biggest JUMBRELLA you can find!

We continue to have the  KERI DESIGNS trunk show in the store, with patterns based on CHARLIE HARPER artwork.  So charming!  You can also see them here:

In Monday night's storm, Randy & I did lose some big, nearly 100 year old, maple trees in our back yard.  They took out the line to the house, so we were without electricity for 48 hours.  Could have been worse!

The saleswoman in me was curious to know if MAPLE WOOD produces more heat than say, pine.  Interestingly, "All wood, regardless of species, has about the same energy content per pound."  This according to the web site:

Here I also learned that there is such a thing as "Firewood Pile Obsessive Compulsive Disorder."  I don't know if it is serious, but if you know anyone who needs more wood to stack, I have some great, FREE firewood! Own chainsaw required!  :)

Seriously, it makes me sad to see good fuel going to the dump, so if you or anyone you know would like to contact me to make arrangements to get some great hardwood, it is currently still in my backyard.

And it will save you a trip to the woods.  Instead, come see my great WOODSY THEMED FABRICS and make quilts for all your outdoorsy types who enjoy cutting and burning wood! :)

I love these two newest groups, WINTER STILLNESS, and AMONG THE PINES.

In September, we start a new, year-long QUILT SAMPLER CLASS at Charlotte's Sew Natural, which can be made in any fabric you choose.

 Mary will be teaching the

using Marti Michell's pattern & templates.

A limited number of kits will be available with fabrics like Mary's quilt.

Most students make unique quilts with our help selecting the fabrics.  (See below.)

This makes each class meeting especially fun, seeing the same quilt block done in such a variety of fabrics.  Maybe you'd like to do it in Christmas fabrics and create an heirloom to be brought out annually?  We'll be happy to help you select the perfect fabrics!

Beginner to expert level students welcome.  (Beginners must know how to use a sewing machine, but all other skills will be covered in as much depth as you require.)

 Starts Thursday September 19th

Meets - 3rd Thursdays  through August 2014

Choose 10 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. class time.

Lecture/demo lasts about an hour.  $48 plus materials.

There are many, many fabrics to choose from in the store which would make up beautifully in this pattern.  We're so happy to help you with your selections.  This is what we truly LOVE to do!  :)

Just two suggestions:  CROSSROADS by Jan Patek for MODA.

For a more contemporary look, you could consider starting with AMETHYST from Classic Cottons.

September also marks the start of an APPLIQUÉ BLOCK A MONTH quilt class.

 Mary will be teaching

which combines piecing and appliqué for a fun HALLOWEEN quilt.

Suitable for confident beginners through experts!

Starts Thursday September 12th

Meets - 2nd Thursdays  through February 2014

Choose 1:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. class time.

Lecture/demo lasts about an hour.  $36 registration fee plus $29.99/month kit fee.  Kits include pattern/fabric/embellishments for blocks & borders.

If you like HALLOWEEN, and EMBROIDERY & STITCHING, you'll want to check out these SPIRITED TEA TOWELS
