Hi all!

Happy September!  I know, officially, that there are a couple more weeks of "summer", and even with HOT temperatures, it sure feels like AUTUMN here!

Maybe it was the changing season that finally pushed me into action, but I have now started my BLOG!

Check it out here:

We have a new FALL CLASS LIST.  There are limited spaces in each, so sign up soon!

If you don't live close enough to attend our classes, there may be PATTERNS & FABRIC KITS AVAILABLE.

All of our classes are perfect for confident beginners and those who have progressed beyond this early stage, unless stated otherwise.

Always one of our most popular classes, the PERFECT PATCHWORK TEMPLATE SAMPLER quilt class has two meeting times to choose from.

3rd Thursdays at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. OR 6:30 p.m.  Starts September 20.  $48 plus materials.

12 monthly meetings thru Aug. 2013.  Lecture/Demo.  12 Sampler blocks using Marti's Perfect Patchwork Template Sets A & C, to make a Queen-size quilt.

Instructions on how to finish the quilt also included.

KITS available in the TAUPE fabrics as shown, or let us help you select your own color-way.

It is always fun to see what fabrics others are using when you come to class.  Taught by Mary.

Another interesting SAMPLER QUILT is shown here in SOLID COLORS.

AMISH WITH A TWIST follows the AMISH tradition of simplicity, but creativity bursts from this quilt!

This 6-month class will start on Saturday, September 22nd and Thursday, September 27th. Meetings will be on the 4th Saturday at 1:30pm OR 4th Thursdays at 6:30pm. This class runs through March 2013.

This lecture/demo classes taught by Ruth will feature sampler blocks with appliqué. You will make a queen size quilt.

QUILT SHOP HOP!  October 5th, 6th, & 7th!

OCTOBER will bring us the Central Kansas QUILT SHOP HOP!

I am working on my EXCLUSIVE QUILT, using our EXCLUSIVE BATIK from Hoffman.  It is very "autumnal"!  We will start to share our unique quilt in September.

List of the 11 shops & other details on the HOP can be found here:

This year, for the first time ever, there will be a LUXURY BUS leaving from Salina on Saturday morning, and doing the entire SHOP HOP route in two days, including an over-night stay in a hotel.  Prince & Princess, your coach awaits!  :)  Call Jayne Heller if you are interested! There is an early-bird offer about to expire.  785-529-2382 or 785-658-7272

For a very limited time, we are now taking pre-orders on SHOP HOP FABRIC.

Designed exclusively for the 11 member quilt shops!
Pre-order 2012 Central Kansas Exclusive Shop Hop Custom Sunflower Batik Fabric, 100% cotton, 45" wide.
Limited availability.

You may pick up, or we will mail your fabric after Oct. 5, 2012.

This fabric is hand painted and every yard is slightly different. The image here contains a collage of pieces cut from different bolts & sections of the bolt. Intensity of colors change from multi-color to primarily red. The background is 'blacklight', and matches Hoffman's 1895-537 hand-dyed watercolor fabric.
The large sunflower is approx. 4" in diameter. The large leaf is approx. 3" long.

I have finished my EXCLUSIVE QUILT and will have it hanging by Saturday (this is SECOND SATURDAY - FREE demo starts at 9 a.m.  All are welcome!)

Here is a "tease".  It is 94-inches square and I need to find somewhere to photograph it!  Very BIG and very BLACK!  Original pattern by Deb Madir.  Cool quilting by Kay Clark!

Watch my BLOG for a larger picture appearing soon, and more details on my creative process for making the quilt.

I am fascinated by creativity, why some people have it and others don't, why I sometimes have it and sometimes don't!  Inspiration seems key, and for me, collaboration has always been very inspirational.

Blogging is such an avenue of expression, and often a great window into someone else's creativity.

My friend Susan made a quilt that started with my suggestion that this Henri Matisse fabric (from Alexander Henry) would look cool KALEIDOSCOPED. (a word?)

She ran with the idea!

She passed the finished top to another friend, Jan, who applied her vision and the finished quilt is a true work of art!

See Susan's quilt and more of Jan's work here:

The pattern book, KALEIDOSCOPE SYMPHONY by Marilyn Foreman and ALEXANDER HENRY fabric still available.

We also have some great fabric from CURRENT, WORKING ARTISTS!

Check out CORI DANTINI.  She is designing for BLEND FABRICS

We have her first line, BEAUTY IS YOU, and look forward to her next!

Cori is new to fabric design, but if you go to her BLOG, you'll see she's been working as an artist for years.  I've started noticing her work other places and I'm sure you will too.

Come check out the newest BARGAINS at our Mall store just 4-1/2 miles south of downtown Newton.
